Client, Rafter and Partner Testimonials 1

Good afternoon.  I jsut saw your feedback form and thought I would email my responses rather than fill out the form and mail.

1.  Have you enjoyed your overall experience with Whitewater Voyages?
A: Yes, absolutely.  Everyone we came in contact with was pleasant and provided good customer service.  I have no complaints!

2.  What can we do to make your river adventure more enjoyable?
A:  Nothing I can think of!

3.  Did any of our staff exceed your expectations?
A:  Absolutely!  The rafting was a blast and we had a great time, but what put the extra enjoyment into it was AJ.  He was a pleasure to raft with, seemed to really enjoy what he was doing, and went out of his way to try and make sure we had as much fun as possible.  From what I saw of the other guides, whom I believe are all good, I am very happy that we ended up with AJ.

This was the first experience for my family and I and we had an amazing time!  The equipment was all in good shape, the staff and guides very knowledgable and focused on customer service, and the organization and planning was very professional.  I will definitely recommend Whitewater Voyages to friends and will be a repeat customer myself.

We took the Big Water trip on the Kern on 8/16/2010.  Scratchy was the Trip Leader and AJ was our guide.

Thank you!
Dean (and family)

Dear Bill,

Thank you for a most enjoyable and informative six days. I learned a lot. Your culture of kindness and respect is so admirable.

Thanks so much for showing us some of the wonderful rivers you raft and introducing us to your very dedicated and friendly staff. The warmth of the welcomes and the quality of the operations were remarkably consistent at both the Kings and the Kern River outposts. Your caring about your guests, your staff, and the rivers that sustain your company shines through.

Cheers,

Hi Bill,

Thank you for hosting us on the Kern and Kings rivers. These are real gems and Whitewater Voyages created the perfect setting for us. Like you, I've been running a rafting company for over 25 years. You should be proud for having created the incredible company you now have, with the most amazing variety of trips. Your guides set a wonderful tone of welcome and calm that created a space for everyone to relax. In observing your operation I noted that your slogan of "Friendship, Adventure & Growth" was alive and well and that your guides led your guests to experiences that provided all this and more. Truly you have set a high standard and I wish you much continued success.

Bill:

Thank you for sharing tips on high water safety. Most of us outfitters in Colorado and Utah remember '83-84' but our young guides haven't seen an above average year. Thank you and we'll insert it into our employee manual, "with thanks to Bill McGinnis".

Sincerely,

Robin Tierney, co-owner

Hello Bill,

How are you and how was YOUR 2004 season? My summer was fantastic. I found myself to be in such high spirits throughout the entire season. I think it was a combination of having missed the 2003 season due to my shoulder operation (which meant I was charged with energy). Plus fact that the year I had off gave me time to reflect and realize that I have the best job in the world. Once again I thank you for allowing both Jamie and myself to come to California and raft. At the same time may I condemn you for introducing me to a way of life I will never be able to let go off.

Of course I would love to return to California next year and work for WWV. Anyway, I just wanted to say "thank you" for my 2004 season, and that I never take for granted my employment at Whitewater Voyages. As long as you're willing & Pam, Jamie and I shall get the ball rolling for next year's visa.

All the best Bill,
Brian Simpson

THANK YOU for making our adventure down the Lower Kern the last couple of days AWESOME!!! I was the coordinator of the Bachelor Party, and as we drove home last night, every person shared their favorite experiences and said, "it was the best bachelor party they had ever participated in."

We are already discussing another adventure for next spring so that we can go bigger and test our limits... Again, thank you... you helped give my Brother a most memorable Bachelor Party!

Together with a group of friends, I had the pleasure of rafting with Whitewater Voyages on June 20-21 on the South fork and North Fork on the American river. The staff you have assembled in Coloma is absolutely top notch; the trip leader, Corey, the two guides Kelly and Dave, and the other staff members, were friendly, helpful, thoroughly courteous and in all ways, consummate professionals. I am sure this has a lot to do with your company as a whole and for that you should be proud. The guides we dealt with, about rafting and dealing with high water on these rivers. We also enjoyed meeting Bronson, Galen, and Nora on the South Fork trip. Your people made this a special trip, and one I'll remember forever.

If I'm ever asked to recommend a whitewater rafting company, it will be Whitewater Voyages. Congratulations on a great outfit and please let the gang in Coloma know how much our whole group appreciated their efforts.

Sincerely
Jim Brass

Dear Whitewater Voyages,

I wanted to send a quick note to tell you how much I and my friends enjoyed our Yuba River trip over the May 12th & 13th weekend. Darcy G was instrumental in getting me and my bachelor party up there for a great weekend. She helped out with some logistical problems in the planning and execution stages that allowed the whole trip to come off seamlessly.

Our other boat was guided by Beth D. and between those two and the rest of the stuff we all felt welcome, well fed and safe all weekend. My buddy Adam said, It was the best bachelor party I had ever been to! For me, it was exactly what I had hoped for and planned on. You run a quality program with excellent people and I will be back soon.

Yours truly
Dave Goldes

Mr. William McGinnis:

It is a rare instance that I will write a letter endorsing a company, however in the case of Whitewater Voyages I feel compelled to let everyone know that Whitewater Voyages, and the employees that represent this organization have established a standard of excellence for customer service that should be held up as an example for all. Businesses that strive to achieve the highest levels of professionalism.

Our guide, Amicaya, is an incredibly talented individual. He made our two days on the American River a memorable experience. When we may have been a little nervous about traversing some of the middle American river rapids, Amicay's calms, confident, demeanor knowledge of the river provided us with some interesting history. This is wonderful because it helps you realize a deeper, more personal, appreciation for what you are experiencing.

The lunches and supper that were served by the guides were, in a word, incredible! I am still in awe of the quality, for both substance and presentation. Then to understand that this is all accomplished with very limited facilities. It is truly amazing.

We originally took this trip as a one time vacation, primarily for the experience of river rafting at least once in our lives. I will say without any reservation, we will be back to do it again, and I cannot imagine river rafting with anyone except the guides from Whitewater Voyages.

A loyal patron,
Howard Hoover jr.

Bill and the office staff,

Just thought I would drop you a quick e-mail as it is the end of another fun filled season.

Once again thank you guys for all your hard work and for the opportunity for a wee Scotman like myself to come to this fantastic country and allow me to do what always puts a smile on my face everyday.

This season I was on the Tuolumne most of the time and I had a blast. Learning all the time from Guides like Laynne and Pete is a gift I don't take lightly.

Hope to see you all next year (sorry for this letter being so short but someone is kicking me off the PC at the Placervillle library).

Thanks again,

love,
Brian & of course the other pale one Jamie

I want to thank you for the opportunity you gave me to work on the Kern River last season. I learned a lot, and I had a great time guiding for Voyages, and although originally my plan was to guide commercially for only one season, I had such a great time that I am planning on doing it again this year.

I think that the Whitewater Voyages crowd is awesome. The people that I got to work with during last summer are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They were very friendly, had the greatest attitude (gung-ho), and they love rivers-definitely my type of crowd.

Once again Bill, thank you for everything. I wish you the best on this coming year, take care of yourself, and hopefully I'll see you on the river sometime.

Carlos

Just wanted to send out an e-mail thanking you all for an amazing week last week. I had one of the best weeks of my life. I've been on the river before, I've rafted before, I've camped before; but I love the lifestyle that I experienced this week and you are all the large part of that. So, thank you. Also, I have pics from the week - including the camp pic. If you want any of them, just e-mail me...

If any of you ever need a place to crash in South Central ghetto, I have a huge house... and if you ever want a paddle buddy, I'd love to join.

Beware of: those eager to check for hypothermia, leprechauns, camoflagued bugs, banzai holes and flying craigs, mustard in places it shouldn't be, and whatever else I've forgotten from that week...

Sincerely,
the bold and beautiful
Bryan

As the special use administrator for the North Yuba, member of the River Management Society, and former River guide, it is both a pleasure and an honor to speak on behalf of Bill McGinnis - WHITEWATER VOYAGES. I have worked with Whitewater Voyages on the North Yuba since 1986. During this period I have been in a position in a position to observe and interact and interact with Whitewater Voyages personnel in addition to administering their permit.

As an outfitter guide permittee, Whitewater Voyages has received outstanding ratings from me. Their operations managers and guides are very professional and provide safe, high quality experience trips. Their organization is well and managed and very supportive of local communities and the Forest Service. Their business support staff is well informed and supplies operating plans, insurance certificates, and financial data in a timely and responsible manner. Their equipment is well maintained. Their outfitter camp is organized and maintained in a safe and sanitary manner. My observation of customer satisfaction is that it is very high.

Bill and his company have been ver supportive of community and Forest Service programs. Ill has been instrumental in supporting interagency river trips on the North Yuba. Whitewater Voyages has sponsored two such trips to build community support, educate volunteer emergency response forces, and create an experiential environmental for participants to understand the Wild and Scenic River program. Bill, or one of his head guides, has participated in community invaluable asset providing his expertise to guide a public meeting through some very conflicting responses to public access issues. Whitewater Voyages is a team player that works with the other outfitters for the benefit of everyone.

In the selection of a new permittee through the prospectus process I am sure you will receive many very competent and qualified responses. I submit to you that Whitewater Voyages rates a notch above the best of those.

Sincerely,
ANDY STEELE

Dear Mr. McGinnis,

I am writing this letter to say thank you. Please allow me to explain. Almost 30 years ago, a friend introduced me to whitewater boating on the Guadalupe River in Central Texas. I was hooked immediately and began paddle rafting. Three years later, the son of a local outfitter introduced me to oarboating and some of the possibilities it offered. Then I bought your book Whitewater Rafting. My imagination began to soar! Because of the limited opportunities for instruction and experiences where I live, through your book, you became my silent mentor. In a nostalgic moment, I re-red it quite recently and realized that while I was enormously impressed at the time, today, almost 20 years later, I am astounded. Realizing only recently how young you were at its publication, I consider that achievement utterly remarkable.

While I devoured the depth and breadth of the information as fast as I could - sometimes it was not fast enough! What early on, I had only a subliminal grasp of then, has now become abundantly clear to me. You are by far the most gifted writer I am aware of at capturing the heart and soul – the very essence of a whitewater river experience. For me, it is that feature alone which makes your original book a timeless classic and still, after all these years, a joy to read.

Today, I have gained experience on almost 50 rivers in 15 states and Mexico. While my passion for the sport runs as deep as ever, it has expanded to take the time on a reflective quality. Instead of just looking at the future, I am feeling compelled to take the time to explore what this passion and the experiences it has created have meant to me in the past and will have for me in the future. Along with this shift in perspective has I believe, helped me to better understand the passion itself.

I recently read you 2005 brochure. Your ending statement, "And with the experience, we find, comes a reawakening to the fundamental, enduring goodness and richness of life on this earth." Clearly, your extraordinary gift so much in evidence in, your twenties has continued to deepen and mature. Perhaps, Mr. McGinnis, in that one simple but profound statement you may have uncovered the most important universal truth of all about this passion we all share.

While my story is only one, I am certain that it somehow echoes the feelings of untold numbers of other boaters. For your contribution to my life, all those other boaters and to this sport for which I have an enduring passion, I wish to thank you.

Sincerely,
George Brown

" I recently went to Whitewater Voyages' Guide School on the American River. What a life-changing experience! Bill McGinnis is a brilliant teacher and a kind soul. I wish everyone I know could get a chance to talk with him. His staff of instructors are knowledgable and supportive. They work their tails off to help everyone learn as much as they can. One great week in my life! "
